The Big Picture
The Nettie S. Freed Expeditionary School consisted of the construction of a new K-8 School built on the same site as the existing middle school. In 2020, H.W. Houston Construction demolished the existing school in its entirety. The project consisted of a CMU plus steel frame building, an entire rework of the existing site including sidewalks, round abouts, parking lots and landscape. H.W. Houston self-performed the caissons and the foundation work. The school is equipped with a new gymnasium, dining commons, administration offices, media center, and classrooms including an art room and CTE program.
